Kindergarten Field Day

Parker had his first field day last Friday. Some of the events included potato sack races, 50 yd dash, egg race, tug of war, and noddle races. I volunteered for the morning and worked the potato sack race, which of course was his favorite event. It was not the field and track day I remember. No 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place and no ribbons at the end of the day. Regardless the kids seemed to really enjoy themselves and everyone was declared a winner. However, the competitive streak that Parker gets from Justin and I ran true as he told everyone he won all the races.

Busy Winter and Spring!

It has been a busy winter and spring. It is hard to believe the last time I added a post was around Christmas. We worked on the house as much as we could with 3 busy boys. This is a picture of the kitchen and family room. We have the 1st floor bathroom just about complete. Dad and Justin have been busy replacing windows and getting the new siding up.

YMCA Flag Football

Parker and Spencer participated in the flag football season in May. It was definitely interesting. We found that Parker can really hustle when he wants something bad enough. Daddy was very proud of him. Every game he got better and better. The very last game he had 3 touchdowns and 10 flags. In fact the coach kept moving him further from the quarterback to give them a chance. It was so much fun to watch him really enjoy something and do so well. As his Dad says "The kid's got skills."

Spencer on the other hand may not be ready for structured sports. I guess he is only 3 1/2. I may have been expecting too much. He like chasing for flags but didn't much care for anyone taking his flags. Case in point-He ran in for a touchdown and when he past the goal a kid grabbed his flag anyway. It was at this point Spencer sat down and started to cry. He did not pay any mind to the fact he had just got a touchdown.

Parker's Spring Soccer Season

It was Parker's first season at Waukee. He has done really well and already shows improvement from last year. I was even able to coach two games this year. I really enjoy working and coaching the kids. Sometimes I think I chose the wrong path with fashion and should have chose the teacher route. I did volunteer to be an assistant coach next year. I really enjoyed coaching last season when Parker played with Soccer South in Des Moines. It was just so hard when you have two other little ones that need your attention as well. Coaching requires a couple nights of your week for practice and then of course your Sunday afternoon for the game.

After getting it approved by the association Justin was finally able to get the new play set up this weekend. There are still a few finishing touches for it to be complete but it done enough for the boys.
