2 months old today!

Cooper had his 2 month check-up with Dr. Williams today. He weighed an outstanding 16 lbs and 1 oz. He was 24 1/2 inches long. That is two inches longer than when he was born and he has almost doubled his weight. He is on path to be an Iowa State Cyclone Full Back. He also got three shots which he did not appreciate. The doctor gave him an A+. Cooper is smiling, cooing, and even giggles sometimes.

Soccer Season Begins

Parker started his fall soccer season this week. This is his first year. He has a soccer clinic on Mondays with the Drake soccer team and practice with his team on Thursdays. Games are held on Sunday afternoons. His coach's name is Ben and his team consist of 4 boys and 2 girls. The first clinic was the 22nd and his first practice tonight. HE LOVES IT! Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the first two practices but Daddy did and said he did an awesome job. Dad was even a little wore out after the first practice because he got to help coach (run after all the balls). Parker really seems to be enjoying this sport. I think we might be in for the long haul. I guess this makes me an official "Soccer Mom." Now all I need is the soccer ball sticker for the back window of the Tahoe.

Grandma goes home

Grandma's extended stay with us ended this week. The last nine weeks would not have been possible without her. She was an extra pair of hands and did so much for everyone in the house. She cooked, she cleaned, and she played. We all miss her very much! However, we knew it was time for her to go home when Poppa started grilling corn dogs.

Thanks Grandma! We couldn't have made it without you! We love you!

Trip to the Iowa State Fair

Poppa and Grandma accompanied us again on our annual trip to the fair. I am sure we were a sight to see. Four adults and three kids in tow. Parker who is old enough to walk wanted to ride in the stroller. Spencer only wanted out of the stroller. Cooper thought it was way too hot. We ate the food we all wanted to make sure we ate. This included mini donuts, corn dogs, cheese curds, pizza, and the nitro ice cream. We saw the cows, pigs, and sheep and then bought the boys cheap toys from a sidewalk vendor. It was four fun filled hours, at the end of which we wondered why we went. As we were walking out of the gate I asked Dad if he got to see everything that he wanted to see to which he responded "I didn't get to see anything I wanted to see." Maybe next year, Dad!

Spencer turns 2!

Spencer turned 2 on August 12th. It ended up being a small celebration on Friday night. We had planned a party for Saturday but Parker came down with strep throat. I think that Parker was more dissappointed than Spencer. On Friday we celebrated with ice cream cake with Poppa and Grandma. Spencer's favorite gift was a vacuum. I only wish it worked as the floors would be very clean. When it came time for cake he loved being the center of attention and thought that if you blew kisses that would blow out the candles.

Aunt Carol's Lake

On Tuesday night we visited Aunt Carol and Uncle Randy. The boys went to play outside with Poppa and needless to say came in very wet. They weren't wearing swimsuits but it didn't matter to them. We enjoyed some pizza while Aunt Carol dried their clothes.

Lunch with GG (Great Grandma Bush)

On Monday we met GG for lunch at Godfather's. The boys were all very well behaved until the very end. A gentleman even walked by and commented that he wished his boys were that well behaved. I told him they were just saving up. When the pizza was gone the chaos started. Spencer was walking around greeting everyone and as well as running from Grandma Cindy. Parker was standing in the windows with another little boy chatting about whatever it is 5 year olds talk about. Cooper decided he was tired of everything in general and just got fussy. All in all I still think GG enjoyed all the activity and entertainment our family can provide. However, next time I am inviting GG out to the farm for lunch!

Boat Rides

Parker and Spencer spent some time on the water this weekend back in Okoboji. Parker took his first ride in a kayak and Spencer took a ride in Bill's fishing boat.

Cutest Baby

Amy and the boys traveled back to Lake Park to spend some time with our families. Amy entered Cooper in the Cutest Baby Contest and he won! This makes two years in a row for our family as Spencer took home the title last year. They get their good looks from their mom!

Farmer's Appreciation Day Parade

On Saturday we headed in for the 10th Annual Cutest Baby Contest which Copper won in his age group. Spencer was named Future Pro Football Player. After the contest we all enjoyed the parade and were able to fill a sack with lots and lots of candy.

A Day with the Cousins

On Friday we spent most of the day at Grandpa Jim and Grandma Jan's. Kurt, Jill, and the girls were also visiting so the day was extra special. The cousins really had a good time together. Cyan is going to make a great babysitter someday. She did an excellent job holding Cooper. You'll see a great picture of the cousins on the infamous hereford that has been watching over the farm for many many years.

A Week at the Farm with Poppa and Grandma

The boys and I spent last week with Poppa and Grandma at the farm. It seemed like we were constantly on the go. We arrived Wednesday night the 3rd. Thursday Grandpa and Grandma Great Johns came out to visit and Thursday night we met Poppa at the annual Farm Bureau picnic. The boys loved playing on the slide.
